Who doesn’t long for that moment of finally choosing a wedding ring? But I’m not talking about your ordinary gold wedding rings; I’m talking about unique gold wedding rings. Yes, if you want to have a ring which stands out among the many regular rings all your friends have, you should definitely read on.

So what makes our gold wedding rings so unique? Well, first of all, they are all personally handcrafted by extremely talented top of the class Israeli artists. It is widely known that their designs are not only beautiful but also unique and very different from the rings designed by other artists in the western world.

Second, many of these designs combine different colors of gold. This adds color and prestige to the ring. One design which I find extremely fabulous and most fitting for a wedding ring is a leaf design. These unique gold wedding rings are decorated across the center of the ring with a delicate branch and leaves, which represents life and growth which is just what we hope for in a marriage.

Finally, there are also Jewish wedding rings, which are amazing rings engraved with different love verses from the bible. Also, on a personal note, I think that just knowing that your wedding ring came from Israel is unique in its own.

Silver Candle Holders

                                                                                             1493_1_2
Silver candle holders
always bring back sweet memories to me. In my mind I see my mother lighting the Shabbat candles in our family candelabra, blessing each child as she lights another candle. Being items that are often passed on from generation to generation much like many Judaica gifts like the silver Kiddush cups, these candle holders are usually not just beautiful but full of meaning and history as well.

There are many traditions as to the number of candles which a woman lights. Although the absolute minimum of candles is one, the Jewish sages say that at least two candles should be lit. In many families it has become tradition to light a candle for every member of the family, and with each child born into the family, another candle is lit forever. Also, people who abide by the kabala light seven candles and even ten candles. Although it is very popular to light with white wax candles, many people today return to the traditional oil. If people want to glorify the Mitzvah, they use olive oil which is considered the highest quality oil there is for lighting. Because olive oil is often much more expensive, some people light a mixture of olive oil with regular oil.

Yet at the end of the day, what is most important is to see the light and feel the warmth from the lit candles every Shabbat and holiday, knowing that the gorgeous silver candle holders are here to stay.

Silver Kiddush Cups

                                                                                                            2062_1_2
In almost every Jewish home around the world, you can find silver Kiddush cups. These cups are usually gilded in order to avoid the bitter taste of the silver from having an effect on the taste of the wine.

The Kiddush is a Jewish blessing recited over wine at the start of the evening meal and the morning meal on Shabbat and Jewish holidays. It is also used during the havdalah ceremony which ends the Sabbath and holidays. More so, it can be seen used at different Jewish ceremonies such as a Bris, and a wedding. Although the text for all these blessings is different, they all have one thing in common – the blessing over the wine – “Bore Pri Hagafen” – meaning “Creator of the fruit of the vine”.

There are many different designs for these cups today, some designed with a stem and a base like the Ashkenazi cups and some designed without a stem and a base like the Sephardic cups. You can find beautiful cups decorated with a Jerusalem motif, a vine motif, amazing enamel work, delicate filigree designs, hammered textured, modern angle designs, baby Kiddush cups for young children and much more. There is no question that some of the most gorgeous Judaica gifts today are spectacular silver Kiddush cups.

Lobe Elongation

1515_1_3

There are many types of handmade gold earrings for you to choose from, from stud earrings to light hanging earrings to heavy hanging earrings. Apart from the obvious difference between them, there is also a known phenomenon which occurs when wearing heavy earrings. Ever notice women whose earlobes have become longer from wearing heavy hanging earrings? The professional name of this phenomenon is lobe elongation. A person can actually prevent himself from this by wearing studs or other light earrings.

Researchers have in fact studied this subject and have come up with some interesting facts. The study, which was first published in the journal “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery” was conducted among a representative sample of 547 people consisting of 70% women and 30% men. The study was held to determine the scale of ear length of ages 20-80, and examine the factors influencing the length of lobe.

Research data indicate that the main causes of changes in the size of earlobes are age and gender – as age increases, the ear lobe tends to lengthen. This tendency is twice as clear in women. Furthermore, researchers found that men’s ear lobes are in general longer than women’s. Interestingly, both sexes have proved that the left lobe is usually shorter than the right. It was also found that the ear shape also affects the length of the lobe. Lobe elongated becomes longer when the ear is partially connected to the face than when the ear is fully connected. So the next time you are searching for a great pair of hanging handmade silver earrings or handmade gold earrings make sure they won’t contribute to your lobe elongation.

Jewish Engagement Rings

1490_1_2

Jewish engagement rings are a fantastic new way of showing her just how much she means to you. If once it was accepted to propose with a solitaire diamond ring, today other beautiful options are available as well.

One of the most wonderful rings is the Ani L’Dodi rings. These are rings beautifully designed in many forms, all decorated with different verses from the bible, all speaking of love. The most popular verse is – Ani L’Dodi V’Dodi Li – meaning I am to my beloved and my beloved to me. This verse is taken from the Song of Songs and depicts not only the love between a man and a woman but also the special bond between G-d and the Jewish people.

Here at Baltinester Jewelry, you can find a great variety of these Jewish engagement rings. They vary from silver to silver and gold to pure gold rings. Some of the gold rings are two toned, creating a fantastic look. There are also gorgeous diamond rings which add prestige to these rings.

Another great ring is the 14k gold and silver Jerusalem ring. This ring is decorated with a fantastic gold design of the unique Jerusalem skyline. The base of the ring is etched with the words – “If I Forget Thee O’ Jerusalem…” – the same words which are recited under the Chuppa at the Jewish wedding ceremony.

So if you’re thinking of popping the question, you should definitely purchase one of our many amazing Jewish engagement rings.
